The underlying tone of all WebShop events continues to be collaboration. The Web has become a main mechanism of communication to internal and external customers and is increasingly important to our mission goals. The organic nature of the Web provides an intriguing paradigm for exploration and development of new technologies and opportunities to meet these goals.
This year, we are using the Web as a primary mechansim for communicating the conference event, allowing for greater participation from throughout NOAA. In this vein, we are also providing real-time, logged instant messaging (IM) capabilities to allow folks to participate in the collaborative discussions virtually. In addition to the virtual capabilities, there are seven locations identified throughout the country where folks will gather face-to-face to discuss the collaborative topics. These groups will report back their discussion findings to all of the conference pariticpants on day three, Thursday, November 15. You may begin using the IM capabilities immediatly, and the on-site groups will announce details for the local discussions. Following are the three topics for your consideration and input:
